James Cook Touchdown Gives Bills the Lead Against Broncos
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. – The Buffalo Bills overcame a slow start to take the lead against the Denver Broncos, bouncing back from a 7-0 deficit in the first quarter with 10 unanswered points.
After a sluggish opening, the Bills got on the board with a 26-yard field goal by Tyler Bass, capping a methodical 12-play drive.
On their next possession, the Bills' offense went 81 yards in 13 plays, highlighted by a clutch 9-yard scramble from quarterback Josh Allen on third-and-3. This set the stage for James Cook to power into the end zone with a 5-yard rushing touchdown, giving the Bills the lead.
Cook, now in his third year, had an impressive performance with nine carries for 60 yards after his score. Earlier in the drive, he broke free for a 16-yard run, gaining 12.5 yards after contact according to NFL Next Gen Stats.
On his touchdown run, Cook added another 3 yards after contact, bringing his total to 27 rushing yards after contact for the game. This already marks his fourth-highest total in a game this season.
The Bills are finding their rhythm as the game progresses, with Cook's contributions providing a much-needed spark for the offense.
